Anyone who knows me, knows that I am obsessed with fantasy maps.
Recently I am bettering myself using the Other World Mapper tool, that I purchased.
In the last few days, I created a fan map of the World of Ethshar. The Ethshar world is from the Ethshar book series by Lawrence Watt-Evans (all rights reserved). One of my favorite fantasy writers of all time. The first book in the series is called The Misenchanted Sword it is a very charming and different fantasy book.
Check out this map of Ethshar, that I made:

I wish I knew about the look and feel of the Ethshar world, so I could add more details on the map and create smaller regional ones as well. I know nothing of the roads, the vegetation in the main world, smaller cities and other stuff.
And when you are done enjoying my map go support Lawrence Watt-Evans by buying one of his books at Amazon or your preferred book pusher.

The map I did is based on a pencil drawing by the author himself:

As well as a colour map by J. K. Hoffman:

I think it’s hilarious that the first image hit on “map of ethshar” was the old map I made with Campaign Cartographer but on someone else’s site! I did it as an exercise, really, to learn the program. I think yours is much better.
My apologies for not asking for your permission before I posted it. I didn’t really expect anyone to find it. At least I remember to credit your name on your edition!
I did it as an exercise as well, using Other World Mapper.
Since you already did the nice outline, all I had to do is use this, I think, tool with superior graphics and added a little thing here and there (like a custom ocean).
I wish Mr. Watt-Evans would flesh out his world a lot more. I would love to know more about what are actual forests and green lands and what are arid plains etc. So much more could be done. But I think he is happy with his pencil one, soo..
Have a swell day!
CommentGreat job on the map! Have you considered reaching out to Lawrence Watt-Evans for more details about Ethshar’s world to enhance your map further?
I doubt he is interested. I read somewhere a long time ago before making mine, that he was satisfied with his own or something like that. I have a lot of map questions, both as a reader and trying to make sense of this map as someone trying to improve the map.
Great job on creating this detailed map of Ethshar! It’s fascinating to see how you’ve brought this fantasy world to life. Have you thought about contacting Lawrence Watt-Evans directly to get more insights into the world’s geography? It could add even more depth to your work. What specific details about Ethshar’s landscape are you most curious about?
